Dr Praakash B Ghorpade MSc (Agri) PhD is a renowned linseed breeder. He is Prof Emeritus at CINHD. BVDU, and founder Director of RWNLF. He was FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization) Visiting Scientist at Washington State University Pullman, USA.  As a Principal Scientist at ICAR AICRP Linseed center at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural  University, Dr Ghorpade  developed high yielding disease resistant linseed variety  PKV.NL260. He has been instrumental in successfully demonstrating with the help of ICAR. NAIP projects, that by providing these high yielding linseed varieties to farmers, it is possible increase the productivity 4-9 times, both in rain fed and irrigation conditions. Farmers also could get good price because of the value addition research at BVDU.
